Legacy, beyond performance

This interview with Julien Magitteri, founding chairman of Côme Maison of Finance, was published in L’Auto, the magazine of the Automobile Club de France (issue 2026/01). It covers passion assets, succession, and what the Accélère programme, run by our endowment fund Côme Ensemble, is building for a new generation of drivers.

Côme Maison of Finance combines wealth management and the art of living. How does this approach make for a more personal, more experiential vision of legacy?

The people we work with often have a relationship to their assets that goes well beyond financial performance. A property, a collection, a way of entertaining: all of it says something about what one values, what one wants to pass on. Our approach is rooted in life projects before it ever turns to an investment portfolio.

Passion assets — classic cars, works of art, exceptional investments — are taking up a growing place in certain legacy strategies. What criteria turn them into genuine levers of value?

The real question isn’t making a passion asset perform. It’s looking after it coherently. A discerning collector knows what each piece is worth, where it came from, who it will go to. That same level of attention should extend to the whole of one’s legacy. That’s what we bring: rigour, without taking the passion out of it.

As the expectations of high-net-worth families evolve, how do you support your clients on succession, purpose, and building a lasting legacy?

The most lasting form of succession is never purely financial. What great families really pass on is a way of being, a relationship to things, a set of convictions. The legal structure follows; it doesn’t come first. Our role is to be useful in the conversation that precedes it: where does what’s been built come from, what do you want your children to do with it? Our endowment fund, Côme Ensemble, dedicated to equal opportunity, extends that same thinking to what we want to leave society, not only our children.

Within your endowment fund, the Accélère programme aims to identify and support promising young talent in motorsport. What specific needs have you identified among these future professionals and drivers?

What struck me about these young drivers is their relationship to their discipline: total passion, a drive to push themselves that resembles that of entrepreneurs. But no one has yet taught them how to build something around it. How to structure a sponsorship relationship. How to plan for what comes after. How to think about the future with the same care they put into preparing a race. That’s what we bring them.

How can this philanthropic initiative help transform motorsport’s ecosystem for the long term, making it more inclusive and open to a wider diversity of backgrounds?

The best of motorsport has always combined mastery and elegance. But the sport is losing talent because the filter is financial before it’s about merit. Accélère is trying to change that: supporting three drivers from karting through to F3, fielding three cars at the Tour Auto this year under Côme Ensemble’s colours; that’s how we show the commitment is real.
