Curiosity and rigor lie at the heart of Laurent Runacher’s journey. As a child, he could spend hours immersed in the Encyclopaedia Universalis, jumping from one article to the next and cultivating a vast general knowledge. His interest in diverse fields has remained constant over the years, whether visiting a flat glass factory or traveling through multiple geographies. Laurent has always sought to understand — never content to be “the man of a single book.”

With a passion equally for mathematics and the humanities, Laurent naturally entered ENSAE through the mathematics track, later earning the diploma of financial analyst (SFAF) and ESG financial analyst (Effas, 2020). His early years at Crédit National’s research division allowed him to develop expertise in macroeconomics, econometrics, and financial analysis, as well as deep knowledge of France’s largest corporations. Throughout his career at Oddo Securities and Exane — where his outlook became increasingly international — he combined approaches to better understand the companies and sectors he analyzed: macroeconomics with corporate insights, individual financial analysis with database exploration, and, more recently, ESG criteria to uncover hidden opportunities.

What truly distinguishes Laurent, however, is his willingness to step off the beaten path. Whether attending industrial trade fairs such as the Hannover Messe or the Geneva Business Aviation Show, touring factories, or visiting union offices to speak with every actor in an ecosystem, he thrives on fresh perspectives. “Thinking beyond trends is a source of pleasure,” he confides — a mindset that often leads him to contrarian insights.

This approach led to his meeting with Julien Magitteri and Charles Brunswick, and eventually to his joining Côme as Co-Chief Investment Officer. Laurent now applies his seasoned process and experience to Côme’s ambitions, with the constant aim of exploring new financial horizons and refining his method. “Curiosity and process” — a maxim that aptly sums up his career.
